LJ occupational therapists have many years’ experience in the public sector, providing services to both individuals and organisations carrying out comprehensive assessments followed by detailed reports.
All our Occupational Therapists are members of the British Association of Occupational Therapy and registered with the Health Professions Council and fully CRB checked. Our aim is to provide an extremely professional Occupational Therapy service to every client.

An Occupational Therapist from LJ Consultancy will visit the person / individual at their own place of residence, they will complete a comprehensive assessment of the individual and their environment to identify current barriers to completing such activities, they will complete a report and will create a treatment plan or make necessary recommendations to overcome these barriers;

Our Occupational Therapists have extensive knowledge relating to manual handling and have the required experience to assess and provide advice relating to all manual handling issues, including techniques and equipment. We are able to offer single handed care training to enable safe manual handling when only one carer is available, including the use of gantry hoists, single handed care sheets and wedges.
Manual Handling Training –
LJ Occupational Therapy provides specialist manual handling training to care agency and care home staff. All training is provided by qualified Occupational Therapists with extensive experience working with the community and within a wide variety of care homes.
The Manual Handling Operations Regulations (1992) requires all employers to ensure all employees are trained and competent in manual handling. The course provides information on and adheres to The Health and Safety Executive and other major manual handling legislation regulations.
Moving and handling injuries currently account for 40 percent of work related sickness and absence in the social sector. Our course will equip delegates with the skills and knowledge to develop safer manual handling techniques contributing to a reduction in work place injury and therefore benefits both employees and employers.
Our expert trainers ensure the course content is interesting, interactive and relevant to delegates.
Due to our clinical background our trainers can support with individual cases and provide advice relating to manual handling equipment as well as support with sling selection. Specialist sessions can be provided and tailored to meet specific needs, for example, hoist training.
Falls prevention and Dementia care training –
- Interactive falls prevention training is now available. About one-third of people over 65 will fall in a year, rising to approximately half of all those aged 80 and over. They account for 220,160 admissions due to fall. Occupational Therapists are experts in falls prevention and her at LJ Occupational Therapy we would like to share our experience and knowledge with you and your staff.
- Dementia – group training sessions to raise awareness caring for people with Dementia. Advice regarding to assessing the needs of individual residents and engaging residents in purposeful and meaningful activity to ensure they continue to live fulfilling lives.
Finding the most appropriate chair for can be a challenging and overwhelming experience with so many different types and companies to chose from. Our team have extensive knowledge of assessing and recommending appropriate seating solutions. A specialist seating assessment can be completed to determine which seating would meet your postural, pressure relieving and comfort needs based on your individual specifications. We have links with reputable seating companies and representatives and have great knowledge of the various seating options available.
If you have an operation in a private hospital, it would be unlikely that an OT assessment of your home environment will be arranged. LJ occupational therapy can carry out an assessment for appropriate aids to support with independence. Also, we can carry out rehabilitation programs.
